The Sacred Heart Eagles Boys Basketball team used three big runs throughout the game to beat the Climax-Fisher Knights 85-47 in the final game of the Sacred Heart Christmas Tournament.
FIRST HALF-
It was a good back-and-forth battle at the start, with ties at 5 and 7 points. Sacred Heart took over the game the rest of the way by going on an 11-0 run behind five points from Greg Downs, and the Eagles had an 18-7 lead with 12 minutes left in the half. Climax-Fisher battled back to get within a 20-13 deficit, only to have Sacred Heart answer with a 12-0 run with Jacob Satterlund scoring the first basket of the run, followed by five points from Parker Erickson, a Downs basket before Jacob Ortiz capped the run with a three-pointer for a 32-13 lead. Sacred Heart led 39-26 with four minutes remaining when they finished the half on a 16-5 run with six different players scoring to take a 55-31 lead into halftime. With five minutes left in the half, Climax-Fisher’s Ethan Evitts scored the 1,000th point of his career.
The one halftime stat that Sacred Heart wasn’t happy with was the 10 of 20 shooting at the free throw line. Â
SECOND HALF –
Climax-Fisher started the second half strong with a three-pointer from Branson Solheim and a Ryan Morris basket to get within a 55-36 deficit. Sacred Heart slowly built on their lead and had a 70-43 lead with 12:34 left in the game. Sacred Heart blew the game open with a 10-1 run with five points from Isaac Ortiz, a three-pointer by Sawyer Horken, and a basket from Satterlund for an 80-44 lead. The clock started running with nine minutes left in the game, and both teams played everybody that dressed, and Sacred Heart cruised to an 85-47 victory.Â
Sacred Heart improves to 8-1 on the year and will take on the Northern Freeze on Tuesday in a big Section 8A matchup. Climax-Fisher drops to 1-8 on the year.
