News Release 08-04-23

On the morning of 07/25/23, the Red Lake Falls School District reported that someone entered the Bus Garage building on International Dr. in Red Lake Falls, sometime overnight, and vandalized several of the buses parked inside. That incident remains under investigation.

On the afternoon of 07/26/23, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a stalled vehicle parked along the roadway along CR. #13 west of Red Lake Falls. The owner of the vehicle was contacted, but was unable to get the vehicle removed, so a wrecker was called to tow it from the scene.

On the afternoon of 07/26/23, a Red Lake County deputy responded to a report of a minor fender bender crash near the Pool in Red Lake Falls. An Accident Report was completed, and the information was given to the vehicle owners. The damage was minor and there were no injuries reported.

On the evening of 07/26/23, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a possible protection order violation. That report is currently under investigation.

On the afternoon of 07/27/23, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a domestic disturbance at a Red Lake Falls residence. A Red Lake County deputy responded and discovered that a juvenile female has assaulted their stepmother. The juvenile was arrested, taken to the Juvenile Detention Center in Crookston and booked for misdemeanor domestic assault. She appeared in Court in Crookston on 07/30/23 and was released from custody.

On the morning of 07/28/23, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report that a loose dog chased a child on a Red Lake Falls street. A Red Lake County deputy located the dog and its owner. Sheila Marie Olberg (44) of Red Lake Falls was cited for two misdemeanor city ordinance violations, for allowing her dog to run at large and for failing to obtain an animal license.

On the morning of 07/28/23, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a crash that occurred at the Cenex Parking lot in Brooks the previous afternoon. An accident report was completed and given to the owners of the involved vehicles.

On the evening of 07/28/23, a Red Lake Falls resident reported a stray dog had killed two of their chickens. Red Lake County deputies responded and spoke with owner of the chickens. The victim determined that no further investigation or law enforcement action was necessary.

On the evening of 07/28/23, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report about a stray dog attacking a dog on their homeowner’s property in Oklee. An adult male was bitten by the stray dog when they were trying to get it away from their own dog. The Oklee Ambulance also responded to the scene to treat the victim’s injuries. The suspect dog was not located, and the case remains under investigation.

In the early morning hours of 07/29/23, the Red Lake County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a vehicle blocking the roadway in Riverside Park in Red Lake Falls. The owner of this vehicle was located at the Voyageur’s View campground, and they were advised to remove the vehicle from the roadway as soon as possible. After waiting for approximately an hour, a wrecker was called to come and tow the vehicle from the scene.

On the evening of 07/29/23, a Red Lake County deputy stopped a vehicle on Main Ave. in Red Lake Falls for unsafe driving conduct. The deputy discovered the driver, Brent Jay Mead (75) of Mountain View, AR was intoxicated. He was arrested, taken to jail in Crookston and booked for gross misdemeanor DWI. Mr. Mead appeared in Court in Crookston on 08/01/23. He was ordered to post $1,200 cash bail prior to his release and his next court appearance was scheduled for 08/16/23. He remains in custody at the time of this release.

On 07/30/23, the Pathfinders Snowmobile Club reported that someone had stolen eleven large traffic cones that were used for markers during Summerfest Activities in Red Lake Falls. That report is still under investigation.

On the afternoon of 07/30/23, Emily Jean Luick (32) of Grand Forks was cited for speeding on CR. #13 west of Red Lake Falls.

On the afternoon of 07/30/23, Tyler Coleman McNeely (24) of Yulee, FL was cited for speeding on CR. #13 west of Red Lake Falls.

On the evening of 07/30/23, Brent Leo Mathson (36) of Clearbrook was cited for speeding on CR. #49 west of Hwy. #59.

On 07/31/23, Jessica Lynn Nordby (45) of Red Lake Falls was cited for a misdemeanor public nuisance city ordinance violation in Red Lake Falls.

On the afternoon of 08/01/23, Patrick Alexander Gerzewski (60) of Newfolden was cited for speeding on CR. #1 east of Red Lake Falls.

On the evening of 08/02/23, Heath Romanzo Duncklee (35) of Grand Forks was cited for speeding on CR. #13 west of Red Lake Falls.
